A night to remember at the Footprint awards

To win the stakeholder engagement and special achievement award on Thursday night at the Footprint awards was a special moment for all of us at the Zero Carbon Forum and everyone that’s supported the movement since we started.

When you’re so focused on what you’re doing and what is left to be done, it’s great to take a moment to reflect on what has been achieved already.

With over 30% of the sectors pubs, restaurants, hotels, and breweries working together to implement a plan to net zero emissions, we can lead and inspire every industry everywhere to reduce emissions at pace and give us the best chance of maintaining a planet we can survive on.

But there is far more work to be done. The scale of this crisis is immeasurable and the actions we take to reduce emissions over the next 3 years are more important than any other if we’re to preserve a habitable planet.

Everyone needs to push further and faster.  So, as well as making us feel proud, these awards drive us forwards. There is so much to be done to tackle the climate crisis – and the current response across our economy is not matching the pace and scale of change needed. We need to achieve more, and we need to move faster.

I feel very fortunate to be working in a sector where the leaders and teams are so committed and passionate to leading the fight against climate change, despite the day-to-day challenges for their own business survival.  Civilisation was built on people coming together to eat, drink and have a good time and maybe it’s appropriate that those who live every day to provide it for us should lead the fight to save it.

We can do that better if we work together. We have a better chance of avoiding the worst impacts of climate change if we drive collective, systemic change. The Zero Carbon Forum is driving change in the sector – and we want you to join us.

To net zero together at pace.
