Role: Engagement Manager

Location: Home working (travel to London regularly)

Reporting to: Membership Manager

The Zero Carbon Forum is a membership-based, non-profit industry collaboration of hospitality operators working to achieve net-zero at pace. It provides members with support to take action, including best practice advice and guidance, annual benchmark reports, collaborative initiatives and pivotal Action Groups that drive carbon reduction across the sector.

The Forum is the sector initiative on climate change. We aspire to supporting all our members with the tools and guidance they need to reach net-zero, together at pace. This role is critical in developing our relationships with our members to support the entire sector to reach net-zero.

Job Overview

We are looking for additional capacity to support our members in implementing the carbon reduction initiatives identified in our Roadmap and Climate Action Plans. We guide our members to reduce their carbon emissions through a suite of initiatives, including Action Groups, guidance documents, webinars, podcasts, training and pilot studies. Our focus is on implementation of net-zero initiatives and seizing opportunities to drive collaborative action. Our activity is designed to deliver measurable carbon reduction across the sector.

We’re looking for a passionate and experienced Account Manager to build strong working relationships with our membership. You will listen to members’ perspectives, ensure they are engaging with the benefits of membership, and make sure they are accessing the tools and programmes available to them to support their net-zero journey. You will build long-lasting, mutually beneficial relationships with our members. Your role will be pivotal in enabling the Forum to continue to provide a membership package that supports its members on their net-zero journey

Key Objectives

  1. Regular, structured engagement with forum members both collectively through events, and individually through personal contact
  2. Engage members on new and emerging issues and forum projects. Build strong connections with members to understand their needs and explain product value. 
  3. Develop Forum services so that all members express high levels of engagement and satisfaction
  4. Work with members to hold them to account on the commitments they have signed up to with membership
  5. Capture member data, targets, action plans and progress to support sector-wide benchmarking and progress reports 
  6. Connect members with similar levels of ambition and sustainability programmes so they can share best practice and learn from each other

The Candidate

Essential

  1. 3-5 years’ experience in an Account Management role or similar
  2. Effective communication and relationship building skills, able to build strong relationships with a broad range of people
  3. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  4. High levels of empathy and listening skills
  5. Working knowledge of the net-zero agenda, and challenges around decarbonisation
  6. Self-starter with ability to manage own workload and deliverables
  7. Highly organised and able to work in a pressurised environment
  8. Comfortable talking to people at all levels of a business, as well as presenting to external audiences
  9. Experience managing projects and delivering to deadlines
  10. Desire to grow in the role

Desirable

  1. Experience working within the hospitality sector
  2. Degree level educated on either communications or sustainability related degree
  3. Experience in a fast growth environment where processes are evolving, and initiatives are still being embedded
  4. Experience in a member organisation

We aspire to providing a clear roadmap and advice to all hospitality operators, that provides them with the thought leadership, tools and guidance they need to reach net-zero at pace. This role is critical in developing our tools to enable us to support the entire sector.

Job Overview

Our focus is on implementation of net-zero initiatives, and seizing opportunities to drive collaborative action where we see an opportunity to speed adoption. Our activity is deliberately designed to deliver measurable carbon reduction across the sector.

We’re looking for an enthusiastic and knowledgeable Sustainability Specialist to lead the development of our content and third-party stakeholder engagement approach. You will be responsible for ensuring that our strategy and content is aligned with the latest thinking and progressive action on carbon reduction. You will support the development of resources identified via Action Groups and member meetings and produce a suite of tools for the forum, for both internal and external use.

Key Objectives

  1. Lead sector decarbonisation activity through forum Action Groups, taking member input and creating processes and documents that enable us to achieve sectoral change
  2. Draft Action Group outputs, with input from all participants
  3. Develop existing projects to completion and engage members on new and emerging issues
  4. Update the sector Roadmap and Climate Action Plans with the inclusion of existing, new and emerging initiatives and potential decarbonisation activity
  5. Capture member targets, action plans and progress to support sector-wide progress reports  / Re
  6. Identify and create a suite of training and guidance materials for forum members
  7. Understand the net-zero landscape, including progressive actions taken across the sector, to enable the sharing of best practice
  8. Push into the most challenging aspects of achieving net-zero, recommending solutions and actions to enable the sector to transform to net-zero

The Candidate

Essential

  1. 3-5 years’ experience in a sustainability-related role
  2. Strong working knowledge of the net-zero agenda, and challenges around decarbonisation
  3. Effective communication skills, with a focus on writing clearly and accurately, and asking questions to understand stakeholder needs
  4. Capable of writing a range of documentation, including training and guidance, sector position statements and thought leadership pieces for media
  5. Self-starter with ability to manage own workload and deliverables
  6. Highly organised and able to work in a pressurised environment
  7. Comfortable presenting to external audiences
  8. Experience managing projects and delivering to deadlines
  9. Ability to build strong relationships with a broad range of people
  10. A confident decision-maker, using sound judgement to make sensible decisions
  11. Desire to grow in the role
