Role: Project Coordinator 

Location: Home working (travel to London regularly)  

Responsible to: Membership Manager 

Salary: up to £30,000 per annum 

Working hours: Full time, permanent position  

The Zero Carbon Forum is a membership-based, non-profit industry collaboration of hospitality operators working to achieve net zero at pace. It provides members with support to take action, including best practice advice and guidance, annual benchmark reports, collaborative initiatives and pivotal Action Groups that drive carbon reduction across the sector.  

We’re a small team that’s growing fast and looking for people who can help us turn our growth into meaningful action on climate change.  

Job Overview 

To support our members in implementing the carbon reduction initiatives identified in our Roadmap and Climate Action Plans, we’re launching a series of topic-specific Action Groups that will

  • provide guidance (in a variety of formats, including webinars, podcasts, pilot studies and guidance documents) on implementation of net zero initiatives, and identify opportunities where collaborative action will speed adoption.
  • deliver measurable carbon reduction across the sector.  

We’re looking for an enthusiastic Project Coordinator to be responsible for the development, coordination, implementation, monitoring, and reporting of the outcomes of the Zero Carbon Forum’s Action Groups. The Coordinator will be expected to provide support to staff, learners, and key stakeholders to ensure successful achievement of all performance targets, objectives, and outputs. 

Key Objectives 

  1. Support the Forum Director and Membership Manager to enable the Forum to deliver its business goals and ensure membership satisfaction  
  1. Provide secretariat for member meetings and Action Groups, including diarising meetings, taking minutes, circulating actions, and setting agendas with Chairs  
  1. Monitor and report on progress across numerous live projects 
  1. Draft Action Group outputs, with input from all participants 
  1. Capture member targets, action plans and progress to support sector-wide progress reports   
  1. Use the Membership Portal to engage with members and promote Action Group outcomes, across a variety of formats.  

The Candidate 

Essential 

  1. Takes ownership of workload and deliverables  
  1. Highly organised and able to work in a pressurised environment  
  1. Effective communication and relationship management skills focusing on balancing listening and speaking, and writing clearly and accurately, asking questions to understand stakeholder needs, influencing, and keeping others informed 
  1. Comfortable presenting to external audiences  
  1. Experience managing projects and delivering to deadlines 
  1. Ability to build strong relationships with a broad range of people 
  1. Proactive in assessing opportunities and spotting areas for improvement (be that in people or process) or tweaks to make things more efficient and user friendly 
  1. A confident decision-maker, using sound judgement to make sensible decisions 
  1. Keen interest in environmental sustainability  
  1. Desire to grow in the role 

Desirable 

  1. Experience working within a project-based work environment 
  1. Previous experience in an administrative position 
  1. Uses technology to improve work processes 
  1. Experience in a fast growth environment where processes are evolving, and initiatives are still being embedded 
  1. Experience in a member organisation  
  1. Working knowledge of the net zero agenda, and challenges around decarbonisation  
  1. Knowledge of the hospitality industry, and our members  
  1. Working knowledge of digital platforms and tools (Wordpress, Mailchimp, Survey Monkey, CRM tools, Xero)
